Georgia's Fayette County High Wind Ensemble Invited to Perform at Clinic

The Fayette County High Wind Ensemble has the honor of being the only out-of-state school invited to perform at the 34th Annual University of South Carolina Band Clinic in February.

The ensemble is one of three invited as guest performers; the other two are local bands from Columbia, South Carolina. Fayette County High’s wind ensemble will perform “Toccata Marziale” by Ralph Vaughan Williams, “Ballade” by Darren Jenkins, “Third Symphony, Mvt. 4 Finale” by James Barnes, “Strange Humors” by John Mackey, and “The Black Horse Troop” by John Philip Sousa edited by Fredrick Fennell.

The performance will take place at the Koger Center Concert Hall in Columbia, South Carolina on February 19 at 1:30 p.m.

Since its inception, the school’s wind ensemble has received numerous invitational performances, including the University of Georgia’s January High School Music Festival in 2010 and the Georgia Music Educators In-Service Conference in 2009.

Dr. Myra Rhoden is the director of the Fayette County High Wind Ensemble.
